Ariel's Birthday and Psoriasis Progress

The Birthday Girl

My dear friend Ariel's birthday is August 7. If you know Ariel at all, you know that she is ALL about her birthday. It's next to Christmas and so we love to celebrate with her every year. This year, we decided to spend the day at Glen Ivy Day Spa in Corona, Ca. It was a very nice day. We got facials, went out to lunch, laid in the sun, slathered ourselves with mud (some of us 2xs), and lounged around the various pools. It was so nice to spend time with her, her mom Barbara, and Lindsay.

Well, from my description of our activities, it's easy to see that I had to spend the whole day in my bathing suit. I'm not a GIGANTIC fan of bathing suits, but I have grown an even more sincere aversion to them over the last 3 years or so, as my psoriasis continued to get worse and worse. We made the Glen Ivy plans early in June, and I hadn't yet started the Enbrel. I have been on Enbrel for exactly 1 month today, and let me tell you,... I FINALLY SEE A DIFFERENCE!! In preparation for Glen Ivy I SHAVED my legs - something I had not been able to traditionally do for almost a year. It took 20 minutes because I was trying to be very careful over the psoriatic patches, but I still did it! And all day, I wore my bathing suit, and felt more comfortable than I've felt in YEARS. I really feel like this Enbrel is giving more and more of my life back every single day. Glen Ivy was a huge day, not only for my wonderful friend Ariel, but for me and my psoriasis as well.

Goooooooooooooooo ENBREL!!! Enjoy the progress pics :) I definitely still have a ways to go, but I have definitely come very far.
