So, they did it. They actually did it. I always knew they were very serious about it. But, for some reason, I was holding out hope that they wouldn't actually do it. Well, come this Monday, it's done.
Mike's parents sold their home in Dublin, California and are moving to Spokane, Washington. And boy, are they excited. We decided to make one more trip up there to kick the Hodson parents' booties at Canasta in their Dublin home before we travel to do it in their Spokane home :) We also wanted to spend Mother's Day with Liz this year. The house was all packed up and they were pretty much ready to go. Chris came over on Sunday and we all ate dinner together. On Saturday, we pretty much played Canasta and snacked all day. We ate lunch at Mike's favorite cheese steak place and dinner at Mike's favorite Chinese food place - Hong Kong Delight. The next day, Mike had one last Casper's hot dog. Apparently, they are the best hot dogs ever. I passed, but I will take his word for it :)
The fact that they sold the house and won't live "so close" to us anymore made me pretty sad. I consider myself to be very, very blessed in the in-laws department and I love our visits up there. I also love when they come to our house for extended weekends. I am confident these trips will continue - we'll just have to fly instead :) Kathy and Chino are moving with them, so they won't be local anymore either. We are thinking this was definitely our last trip to the bay area to visit friends.
Two good things about them moving to Spokane: 1.) My very dear friend Becca and her husband Jonathan live in Spokane. It will be SO nice see them more often! We'll also have our own personal tour guides of the new town. It will be awesome, and I can't wait for our first trip up there. 2.) Skip and Liz will now be closer to their grandchildren, Carmen and Nicolas. Matt, Lilli, Carmen and Nic live in Seattle, Washington - which is about 4.5 hours from Spokane. I know Liz will really love that.
Here are a couple pictures from our trip. Enjoy! :)
3 out of 4 of the Hodson kids: Kathy, Mike and Chris. I can't believe I got a good picture of all 3 of them at the same time in the same picture. They are so goofy with each other, it's harder than you might think!
Here is where it is starting to go downhill :) They crack me up!
Oh my goodness... what a bummer.
Ok - this pile of crutches on the "Going to Goodwill" side of the room made me LAUGH OUT LOUD!! I cannot believe all of the broken bones and casts this Hodson family has endured. And this pile o' crutches is definite proof!! They were all different shapes and sizes. It just made me laugh so hard. What a brave mom these kids had!
